Your bulbs must be planted (to approximately 10/15 cm of depth) in autumn, ideally during November and October, even at the beginning of December. Automnal flowering bulbs must be planted immediatly.

Our plants prefer mainly the full sun (tulips, crocus, iris), but the majority of the daffodils can live in a semi-shade site. Cyclamens, hyacinthoides, erythroniums and galanthus appreciate the underwoods.

Rock garden plants prefer drained grounds. If the ground of your garden is really too argillaceous or if you live in a particularly rainy area, think to amend the ground with sand, to select an elevated site or to rise up the place of plantation.

If you cultivate several species or varieties of a same genus, think to sufficiently separate them in order to prevent mixes.

It is possible, but nonessential, to fertilize bulbous plants. Biological fertilizers are by far preferable. They do not burn the roots or the sheets of bulbous plants, nor to cause environnement damages. Choose those which include significant percentage of phosphorus and potassium (" tomatoes " fertilizers are perfect).

Weed your mass bedding only when it is absolutely necessary. To maintain some spontaneous plants in our gardens help us to preserves a natural balance and to avoid the mites or the slugs. Furthermore, it allows to a useful and pleasant fauna to be maintained (butterflies, ladybirds, insects, amphibians and reptiles, birds). For this reason, I highly invite you to banish definitively weed killer and chemical insecticides!

Later in season, it can be judicious to withdraw the faded flowers. That preserves the bulbs in the course of regeneration of an useless energy expenditure.

It is imperative to preserve the foliage of your bulbous plants until its complete yellowing. If not, you would upset the regeneration of your bulbs, and thus their future flowerings.

Our plants are intended to be naturalized. Their populations are going to freely express themselves and are also going to grow for years without degeneration. However, to obtain this result, some care must be taken throughout the year. For example:

If bulbous plants live in your lawn, do not trample it. It is not because you do not see your tulips and daffoldils that they do not need love.
In summer, do not water the places which shelter bulbs of rock garden plants. Make sure that hours of sunshine remain important.
In spring, you like to make bunches of flowers ? What a good idea! In this case, just think to let some leaves of the plants in order to allow future flowerings. Thus, you will be able to make even more bunches next year.

In any case, if you had patience to read my bad English until the end, it is that you have the quality of a good gardener. Thus, I do not have any reason to be anxious for the future of your bulbous plants.
